JULIET BARNARD- COOMBE (B.A. HONS)

Artistic Director

Movement Director

Artist - Visionary - Guru

Since blazing a trail through the London theatre scene throughout a blistering 15 year career in or near theatre as an actor/director/movement director/assistant stage manager/usher Juliet Barnard-Combe or 'Jools' as the SGADS wags have fondly dubbed her, has been remarked upon by all who have found themselves within the blast zone of her visionary and apocalyptic theatrical charisma. Making an acclaimed debut as a fighting tree in the Wiz of Oz in 2007,  Jools has since led the SGADS to new heights of artistry whether that be the controversial over 60s version of Shopping and F**king (rehearsed reading only) or innovative interpretations of the classical cannon.

Praise for Juliet Barnard-Coombe’s work:

“Maverick and, frankly, cavalier approach to the art of directing"

Gurnish and West Moreland Bugle.

“Juliet has adequately met all the course criteria for this unit”

“An enjoyable evening was had by...audience members”

Valerie Damerell

Has been a stable fixture of society life for decades turning her hand to everything from acting to choreography to rigging lights and working on the tech desk.

Under Val's leadership throughout the 2000s, the SGADS had a successful string of popular mainstream productions; pantos, Bugsy Malone, Annie, Grease, and of course her hugely popular Dick Tracey. When not taking part in SGADS productions Val runs the Sprey Gurnish post office and corner shop and is proud grandparent of baby Poppy and six year old Toby who will be appearing alongside his gran in the role of Tiny Tim.

Hilary Wade

The SGADS are proud to welcome newest member to the team former PE teacher and bronze winning Paralympian Hilary Wade.
